Our nearby Ipswich River has been named as one of America’s top 10 most endangered rivers due to the excessive water withdrawals that threaten our regional water security. The Chebacco watershed serves residents in Hamilton, Manchester, and Essex. The 133 Essex St. proposed development threatens this critical watershed area.

According to Hamilton’s Master Plan-Open Space Protection Plan: “The quantity of drinking water and the quality of ground and surface water resources are important issues in Hamilton. In the Hamilton Master Plan, one of their Open Space & Resource Protection goals is to “significantly increase the amount of protected open space by preserving large ecologically significant tracts of forest, habitat corridors and water resources.” Another goal is to “Protect the capacity and quality of Hamilton’s wetland, surface and groundwater resources.”

Why would we put this critical water resource at risk? Our team is working hard to protect this valuable watershed, and we need your help!

Letters received by concerned residents have had a huge impact. The Planning Board receives every one of them. Please make your voice heard by writing to the Hamilton Planning Board or attend the Planning Board meetings on May 3rd and May 17th. And please spread the word and consider donating to our efforts.

Please take advantage of a $10,000 matching gift from a Hamilton resident who does not live on Chebacco Road, but nonetheless does not want the neighborhood to be destroyed.  Your donation will be matched dollar for dollar.
