HAPPY EARTH DAY!
It has been a busy month for SCT&W only to appropriately conclude this week with Earth Day. There is change in the air!
After filing an Appeal with the DEP and Superior Court regarding the Conservation Commission’s ‘yes’ decision on 133 Essex, a site walk on property to be developed transpired. The DEP agent was fully informed by our experts. Many SCT&W members were present which impressed and even surprised the DEP agent. Presentations and questions prevailed from both sides present. We should have feedback next month.
Last week we distributed 9800 SCT&W postcards not only to all Hamilton residents but Essex and Manchester as well. The message has remained the same throughout our inception: possible damage to our aquifer, the impact of 4-6 years of construction with noise and potential health issues resulting and relocating wildlife and people from remaining here and using the woods we have enjoyed for decades. All pretty dire and disturbing!
We have received a flood of impactful ‘Letters’ from those in the community who choose not to see this land be ravaged. Possible contamination of our water supply, cutting down the many trees, blasting the granite hillside, building 50 units and concerns about what Hamilton really wishes by allowing this travesty, continues to perplex many. The Planning Board held elections on April 21 and there is 'new blood'. The NEW Chairman will be professional, unbiased and hold the position with truth and clarity. We are encouraged to proceed with her able leadership. There is a ‘second wind’ building amongst us all.
The need for financial support has never been more needed. As we head into the final stretch, our expert team and attorneys are presenting final arguments with gusto. We should wrap up early June when the Planning Board will take a vote to approve or deny this development. PLEASE watch for our Instagram posts and Newsletter’s carefully.
