COME JOIN US to celebrate EARTH DAY, Thursday, April 22nd.

We at Save Chebacco Trails and Watershed would like to thank you for joining us on our journey to protect one of our favorite wild spaces, and we want to celebrate Earth Day 2021 with you! Join us this Thursday, April 22nd at the Chebacco Woods trailhead in South Hamilton, where we’ll be out in full force talking about our mission and sharing activities for the whole family to enjoy. Show your support with a yard sign and by adding our very own frame to your social media profile picture (head to our facebook page for details). Visit the woods with friends and family and marvel at what it is we are working so hard to save.
Earth Day’s theme this year is Restore Our Earth, and when it comes to restoring the Earth, the verdict is in: it’s much easier to conserve it in the first place. People are coming to the realization nationwide that our very survival as a species depends on the health of the natural systems already in place. So let’s take a stand and protect what we have! Let’s stand against archaic models of development where wild spaces are clear-cut and blasted to make way for luxury housing! Let’s make it known that we value the gift of clean air from our trees and clean drinking water naturally filtered by wetlands. Let’s stand up for our fellow creatures who enrich our lives and keep our ecosystem in balance. Let’s wonder at the intricate systems represented in our woods: at the pink lady slipper orchids that can only bloom with the help of fungi, at the vernal pools supporting amphibian life, at the majestic trees now becoming the favorite perches of bald eagles.
The parcel of land we are trying to save may not be enormous at 66 acres, but when New England is losing 65 acres of forest per day it’s certainly symbolic. It represents a space chock full of biodiversity, where some of the most unique habitats and species in the region are allowed to thrive.
So, celebrate Earth Day with us all week long! Keep an eye on our website (savechebaccotrails.org), our social media (@savechebaccotrails), and sign up for both our petition AND email list to keep up with our initiatives.
Above all, however you celebrate, have a happy Earth Day!
