Stop Hambleton Council buying farmland to circumvent planning rules!

The Issue

Hambleton District Council intends to buy up more than 30 hectares (over 70 acres) of prime arable land on the north and east side of Leeming Bar – ahead of the planning inspector's investigation of its Local Plan. The Inspector’s initial response to the plan calls into question both the location and the quantity of land which Hambleton Council wants to turn into factories, the methodologies used to choose it, and the devastating impact this could have on local residents. The Council hopes to use new Covid 19 rules to make the development a done deal, by buying the land before their plan can be rejected. This is an abuse of democratic process and a mis-use of public funds. Please sign to tell them we don’t approve.
