Halt Verizon Wireless' Plan to Build a Cell Tower Near Residential Areas in New Sewickley

Halt Verizon Wireless' Plan to Build a Cell Tower Near Residential Areas in New Sewickley
The Issue
Pittsburgh SMSA Partnership, doing business as Verizon Wireless, has proposed the construction of a cell phone tower near our homes in New Sewickley, PA. This development poses potential health risks and aesthetic concerns for our community. Studies have shown that living within 400m of a cell tower can lead to an increased risk of cancer due to exposure to radiofrequency electromagnetic fields (RF-EMF) (BioInitiative Report 2012). Additionally, the presence of such structures can negatively impact property values due to their intrusive nature (National Institute for Science, Law & Public Policy report). We urge local authorities and Verizon Wireless to reconsider this plan and explore alternative locations or technologies that will not compromise our health or the beauty of our community. Please sign this petition and join us in protecting New Sewickley's residential areas from unnecessary intrusion.
