As a local resident, I've witnessed the detrimental effects of a traffic light installation on Lake Olympia Parkway and Fort Bend Tollway. The implementation of this traffic management solution was supposed to refine the flow of vehicles but it resulted in increasing the level of traffic jam instead. Impatient drivers often violate traffic rules by cutting off others waiting their turn. Not only does this result in unnecessary accidents, but it also causes lengthy delays.

Now, we are facing the threat of having the same scenario in our neighborhood. The proposed installation will disturb the peaceful environment of our community and cause similar problems, leading to potential increase in traffic, accidents, and delays. Considering the reality that around 33% of all accidents in the United States occur at intersections according to the NHTSA, it's clear the proposed plan should be reconsidered.

The city can use the $1.33 million dollars for a better project. For example, it would benefit our neighborhood if street lights were installed in areas with low visibility at night. Not only would it create a safer environment, but it would also be significantly cheaper to do than install traffic lights. 

We implore our local authorities to reconsider this plan, taking into account the well-being, safety, and the smooth flow of our community life. Let’s ensure that our neighborhood remains a safe and pleasant place for all residents. Therefore, we urge you to sign this petition and make your voice heard against the installation of new traffic lights in our neighborhood.
