Urgent - Sign the petition AND please email Premier Houston <premier@novascotia.ca> Mayor Savage <mayor@halifax.ca> and local HRM councillor Waye Mason <waye.mason@halifax.ca> to ask for a re-think on plans to cut 20 Halifax street trees (12 on Robie St and 8 on Bell Road). Setting the QEII hospital expansion back from the edge would protect the trees along with the health of the public and the planet. The trees are irreplaceable. A minimum of 5,380 new saplings would have to be planted to do the same environmental work as these 20 mature trees. However in 2023 HRM ONLY planted 2,600 trees in TOTAL. HRM claims it has no legislative role but why hasn't it taken a leadership role to protect Halifax's urban trees and to keep commoners informed?
