Halt the Proposed Cycle Path Plan on Greens Way

Halt the Proposed Cycle Path Plan on Greens Way
The Issue
We aim to stop the ongoing proposal that's was created by Labour mayor of Doncaster ross jones to create a cycle path on Greens Way, for it to be reviewed after Doncaster Local Elections May 2025. This proposal not only presents potential safety risks to the cyclists but also threatens to induce traffic congestion in the area. Herein lies another concern about public funding. Allocating finances to build this cycle path is deemed a misuse of public funds, especially when there are other more prescient issues demanding attention such as improving the Mexborough High Street.
For years, Mexborough High Street has been suffering from under-investment, leading to a negative impact on the local economy. Instead of diverting funds towards a controversial and potentially dangerous cycle path, these finances could help revitalise Mexborough High Street and ultimately boost the struggling economy.
National traffic statistics reflect that adding more cycle paths can increase congestion and road accidents. Cyclists are not the most at rist on our roads, the concern of increased congestion will lead to more vehicle accidents too please see govements statistics page: https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/reported-road-casualties-in-great-britain-provisional-estimates-year-ending-june-2024/49158200-ee7b-402d-8842-cd6c6bbb8d84#casualties-by-road-user-type
Furthermore, local business reports highlight the economic struggles of Mexborough High Street. We implore you to join us in urging the relevant authorities to reconsider this proposal and reallocate these funds towards enhancing our local economy. Sign this petition to make a change.
