We call upon the city of Toronto to reconsider the development of a homeless shelter at 68 Sheppard Avenue, within the thriving Willowdale community.

This area, marked by its vibrant economy and family-centric environment, will face undue risk from the introduction of this facility. The proposed site is especially troubling given its proximity to daycares and family homes, potentially exposing children to drugs, violence, and other security issues.

The location for the intended shelter doesn't align with responsible urban planning, presenting an unnecessary safety risk in a densely populated area. The voice of the residents of Willowdale, their safety and well-being, and the future of the community must be the city's priority. We demand that the city of Toronto immediately reverse this decision and consider alternative locations that better address the needs of homeless individuals without compromising community safety. Alleviating homelessness is an issue of paramount importance that we all must engage with, but the solution should not exacerbate other problems.
