To all our supporters,
It has been a busy few months since we announced that Yeovil Town Council had stepped in to help save the facilities at Yeovil Recreation Centre.
While the formal handover of the facilities to the Town Council won't happen until later in the summer, a lot of work continues in the background to ensure this takes place and is a smooth transition.
The facilities are currently exceptionally busy with numerous events each week, showing just how important the Yeovil Recreation Centre is to the local community and wider area. We have had an evening open meet at the athletics track with over 200 participants, various schools events and the hockey club hosted a Grandmasters hockey tournament with teams from as far away as Belgium!
Also, following the publicity surrounding the potential closure, other exciting opportunities have come up in relation to the facilities and the athletics arena. We will share more information on this very soon!
In the meantime, we would like to ask a further favour. We would like to share another petition in support of another athletics track in the South West.
In 1973, Whitchurch Athletics Track opened, and for many years, countless up-and-coming athletes from South Bristol and the wider area trained and achieved great success through the facilities it offered.
Today, it stands empty of athletes, empty of competition, and offering no opportunity to the local athletes of the future.
We would be delighted if our supporters also helped this cause by signing their petition here to support the proposal to regenerate Whitchurch Athletics Track.
Thank you all for you support
