IMPORTANT
Cetti’s warblers!!!

We have been provided images of juvenile and adult cetti’s warblers within the 100m buffer zone of the AP (less than 50m from the lake).

Cetti’s warbler is a Schedule 1 species under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 (as amended).
As such, it is an offence to 'intentionally or recklessly disturb this species while it is building a nest or is in, on or near a nest containing eggs or young, or to disturb dependent young'.
The baby bird, see photo, very clearly photographed. In the reeds, where the nest is located. (see map)
The sighting was then reported to the appropriate bodies, being NRW, SWP and local council. And to the team of Cosmeston Lakes.
It was recorded on the Lerc App. And reported to our organization.

The Vale Action Group have repeatedly pointed out the devastating impact of the Aqua Park in Cosmeston on local wildlife. So far to no avail.
The ongoing issue of the development being in its nesting grounds, is now proven (again), black and white AND it is a crime under the Wildlife and countryside Act 1981 to disturb them. And insufficient ecological evaluation has allowed for this to happen, with us and the public reporting the presence of cettis since the end of June.
The correct bodies were notified.
But what is being done? And who will act?
Who will stop this recklessness?

We ARE desperate.

We are not wildlife experts, we are not a huge organization. We are a group of residents. Informed and very concerned.

This incident is one of many. The real impact of the development on our wildlife  impossible to gauge.

Will someone finally LISTEN?
And more importantly ACT?
