We are one City Commission meeting, on Aug. 4th, away from the proposal of allowing large quadruplex apartment buildings on as small as 1/3 acre lots with unlimited numbers of tenants from becoming an essentially irreversible reality in every neighborhood in our city. This proposal has been largely unannounced, almost universally opposed and would be enacted city-wide. Three of our commissioners have expressed intent to not approve these measures. We need David Arreola or Reina Saco to be the fourth. We, the undersigned citizens of Gainesville, FL want to be on record as demanding that this proposal does not go forward and that you represent us accordingly by voting "NO" on this initiative at the next city commission meeting. We also demand that no version of this initiative be voted on at any other time before January, 2023 when our four newly elected commissioners take office.
