Petition updateHalt the Construction of an 80-Person Homeless Shelter at 66 THIRD STREETUTTER LACK OF ACCOUNTABILITY FOR SITE SELECTION

Dear Friends,  CP 24 Video Link at this end of this - please watch

We now have over 1300 signatures on our petition and despite countless attempts for our elected representatives, Mayor Olivia Chow and Councillor Amber Morley . We are in Ward 3 and Amber Morley is a first time councillor who is also Deputy Mayor to Olivia Chow.

To be clear, to date, Councillor Amber Morley has chosen to hide behind the PR Firm that was paid $200K to shield her and Morely from public accountability for the choice of this shelter location.

There are proposed shelter locations, each 'secretly chosen' by apparently without any knowledge of our elected representatives based on a completely unknown wish list from the city.

Two councillors representing their constituents for areas where two of the other shelters have been proposed have written their own letters to Mayor Chow, held meetings with their constituents  - yet our councillor, Amber Morley has stayed entirely silent .  She was invited to a community meeting that we, not their hired PR firm held that was filled to capacity by those seeking even basic information and showing their frustration at being continually brushed off by auto responses and AI generated generic responses from elected officials.

Amber Morely apparently 'wanted to attend our meeting ' but was busy ...

Shame on you Amber Morely - in your election promises, you promised to 'have a coffee with constituents at any time and always listen, especially to your seniors - but now, you are nowhere to be found.

Shame on you

You were elected by the people of New Toronto and Ward 3 - it's time to speak up
