Victory belongs to Mother Nature! Hurrah!
Through a concerted effort, we managed to stop the billboard construction in Langata at Dam Estate. This success results from passion and commitment to the unending love for Mother Nature, particularly the love for trees and the realization of their importance and the role they play in the balance of the ecosystem.
Upon seeing this petition, residents of Dam Estate and various individuals who reside as far as Canada responded swiftly and penned their signatures in support of this cause. And to that, we say THANK YOU!
After a few days, the relevant authorities got the information that people were planning to erect a billboard at the proposed site. They took action and disapproved of the opaque action being taken. They further issued a statement saying no license will be issued for cutting the trees. We thank the authorities for thwarting such an attempt.
This bold action we took says a lot about future planned illegal constructions at the expense of Mother Nature.
- Unity is Power. The petition's success wouldn't have been possible without everyone's support. When we come together we can positively impact society by speaking out against such malpractices for personal gain.
- Urgency is Key. The petition gained momentum and within a few days, it crossed critical thresholds. People acted with a sense of urgency and purpose in support of this cause.
As things stand, no construction is scheduled to happen at that particular site as much as they placed and applied concrete on the far end just beside the tree (If you look at the picture closely). However, we are still watching the space.
Let us all adopt and keep this mentality when confronted with a similar challenge in the future. Thank you guys.
