Halt Operations of Petrochemical Plants in Louisiana's "Cancer Alley"
The Issue
Hello, we are 3 teenage students who are concerned about the issue of Cancer Alley, Louisiana. Cancer alley is a 85 mile stretch of land that has a high concentration of petrochemical plants owned by companies such as ExxonMobil and Chevron.
Cancer Alley has been linked with high rates of cancer due to its concentration of petrochemical plants. According to a study by the University Network for Human Rights (UNHR), residents living along this stretch face cancer risks that are 50 times higher than the national average. This is a direct result of unheard industrial activity. It's time we demand that the people of cancer alley be heard and freed from those responsible for these harmful practices. Let's urge politicians and companies owning these plants to shut down these petrochemical plants in Cancer Alley protecting not only its residents but also every American citizen who suffers from their far-reaching effects.
Please sign this petition today and join us in fighting for cleaner air, healthier communities, and a safer future for us all.
