I am a concerned mother of a flight attendant and I fear for her safety - a concern that every individual related to an airline employee experiences regularly. Just two months ago, a devastating incident involving a CRJ700, carrying 67 innocent lives, and a military helicopter carrying 3 personnel, collided in midair leaving no survivors. This horrifying tragedy serves as a painful reminder of the dangers of neglecting skyway traffic control.

Since 1987, there have been a chilling total of 30 near midair collisions. A shocking one-third of these incidents involved military aircraft, including 7 incidents involving helicopters. Our loved ones are put at risk every day at Reagan International Airport due to the incessant non-essential air traffic.

In order to preserve the lives of the people risking themselves in non-essential air travels, it is high time we demand a stricter regulation of air traffic at Reagan International Airport; especially the non-essential military flights that add up to the critical risk. The purpose of this petition is to bring attention to the issue and appeal for a halt on all non-essential air traffic at Reagan International airport, for the safety of airlines employees and passengers alike.
