Data Factory Texas is poised to build a bitcoin factory in the Thorndale area. Constant noise from bitcoin factories is known to cause health issues for humans, livestock and pets.  A bitcoin factory in Granbury is an example where the noise was present within a 10-mile radius, and the health cases there track with known medical research.  Windows rattle and walls vibrate. 

Noise is fatiguing. 90-100 decibels (DB) require ear protection. 50-60 DB is annoying and causes stress and high cortisone levels leading to risks in heart disease. The Granbury factory emited an average of 86 DB 24/7. Keep in mind that constant noise has been used to torment prisoners of war, so do not underestimate it.

There's more...The mining factories are massive energy consumers. Mining bitcoin requires a level of computational power provided by large factories. Millions of people who have neither mined nor traded a bitcoin are paying for bitcoins to exist by way of higher energy bills. Data Factory plans to build a 15MW site; that's like 10,500 homes per day of electricity consumption. On top of all this, the bitcoin has no intrinsic value.

Allowing the construction of a bitcoin factory would be a detriment to Thorndale's future growth and development. Our community and our way of life should be prioritized over a development that brings noise, lights and its associated harms while providing no benefit to the general public. We are calling upon relevant authorities to stop Data Factory Texas from building a bitcoin factory anywhere within a 10 mile radius of Thorndale.
