Halt Construction of Campus for Hope and Forensics Facility

The Issue

We reside within a couple miles of the construction space slated for two significant projects;

1 - Campus for Hope: a $200 million resource center for those experiencing homelessness with space for 900 residents.

2 - Forensics Facility:  a 300 bed facility for "forensic patients" (mentally disordered criminal offenders) at a cost of $286 million.

Both are set to be erected in our quiet, residential neighborhood, dramatically impacting our quality of life. While these endeavors may be noble and necessary, it's critical they be located in an area that will not negatively impact the residents so directly and without discussion.

Thus far, these projects have been shrouded in secrecy, with a strenuous lack of communication between project stakeholders and local residents.  Even schools, churches, non-profit organizations, and businesses have been left out of the lines of communication.

We've seen no economic impact study, no environmental study, and only minor attempts at public involvement after loud complaints.

Community engagement is vital in ensuring these major projects deliver the maximum benefit with the least negative impact. Without gaining public approval for these projects, the State of NV and the City of Las Vegas have broken our trust and seek to negatively change the look and feel of our community.

We are calling for transparency, accountability, and engagement with the community. We request that the stakeholders halt the construction of both facilities until proper research and consultation are conducted and shared with the community, thereby showing us how this project brings value to the community.

Sign this petition to protect our community and demand the respect and transparency we rightfully deserve.
