Short term rental restrictions are causing a large number of short term rentals to leave platforms such as Airbnb and VRBO. With the tariffs and threats to Canada, more than usual visitors from within Canada, as well as its supporters, will want to travel here.

Limiting affordable accommodations at such a time will have economic repercussions to BC tourism and local communities, and will discourage future visitors to this province. 

These regulations come into force with the introduction of the STR registry May 1st, just when summer visitors are making plans to visit BC.
