I am a resident of Oro-Medonte, a beautiful township known for its countryside feel. Our community is under threat as the city of Barrie plans to expand its boundaries into our land for industrial development. This move threatens not only the serene environment we cherish but also the unique identity of our township.

Oro-Medonte, with its rolling landscapes and rural charm, is home to over 20,000 residents who value their peaceful surroundings (Statistics Canada). The proposed industrial development would drastically alter this landscape and disrupt our way of life.

Moreover, such an expansion could potentially lead to environmental issues. Industrial developments often bring about increased pollution levels and can disturb local ecosystems. These are risks we cannot afford to take.

We understand that cities need to grow and develop. However, it should not come at the expense of other communities' identities and environments. There must be alternative solutions that can accommodate Barrie's growth without encroaching on Oro-Medonte's territory.

Let us stand together in preserving the countryside feel of Oro-Medonte that we hold dear. We urge local authorities to reconsider their plans and find a solution that respects both communities' needs.
