Halt Atlanta Watershed's Stormwater Vault Project in Peoplestown Area

The Issue

Help us put a pause on the City of Atlanta's ongoing project to construct a massive sewage and storm water vault in the heart of Peoplestown. Despite serious health implications for residents living nearby, the City is propelling this vault project at an alarming speed. The unwanted stench and potential dangers associated with this operation distinctly affect the well-being and safety of Peoplestown's residents.

Atlanta's Watershed Department is forging ahead with its controversial Stormwater Vault/"Park" project without earnest regard to public sentiment or health concerns for those who will live in its shadow. The construction of such a facility between Atlanta Ave and Ormond St has not been welcomed by the community due to the health hazards it poses.

This decision fails to address potential disease risks associated with sewage holding tanks, most notably, gastrointestinal illnesses, respiratory conditions, and skin infections. Such facilities are also notorious for spawning odors and pollution, drastically affecting living quality in adjacent neighborhoods.

We ask the Atlanta city officials to pause and reflect on the potential harm this project could ensue. We call for the immediate cessation of Atlanta Watershed's Stormwater Vault in the interest of public health and community well-being. Support this call to protect Peoplestown residents from potential health threats by signing this petition.
