Halt All Breeding of Animals to Alleviate Overrun Animal Rescues
The Issue
As someone deeply involved in animal rescue, and having a profound love for all sentient beings inherited from my maternal grandmother, I am distressed by the burgeoning crisis in our animal rescues. Current times have seen an overwhelming surge in the number of animals, particularly cats and dogs, losing their homes. Some of them are being surrendered to rescues, which are all over capacity. Some are just being abandoned to hopefully be found. They are being left in carriers at the sides of roads, gas stations, tied to trees at parks and malls - left alone for whoever knows how long until found.
Sadly, despite this crisis, breeders continue to breed these animals without considering the consequences. They are motivated by profit without considering the welfare of the many animals sitting in rescues, ready to be adopted. I am calling for a total halt on all breeding of animals to alleviate the pressure on overcrowded rescues. Eliminate the necessity of euthanasia.
This issue is not to be taken lightly. Animal shelters across the country are at or near capacity. Across the country, animal shelters are struggling with overcrowding, reaching their maximum capacity, and facing a crisis. Unfortunately, due to the lack of space and foster homes, very difficult decisions have to be made to euthanize.
When will we confront this national epidemic? The public is acquiring more animals from breeders, backyard breeders, and puppy mills than from animal shelters and rescue groups. It does not make sense that breeders are allowed to continue breeding when there is already an overpopulation of animals in need of homes. I care about the animal but for those who watch where your tax dollars are going - why don't you look up how much it costs our tax dollars to euthanize?
The laws should also stipulate that every animal should be spayed/neutered before being adopted. Rescues make sure that the animals are sterilized yet breeders do not. This is one other reason why breeding needs to be stopped.
Putting a stop on breeding, during this epidemic, would mean more homes for those animals already waiting in shelters, and would send a strong message to society about the importance of animal rights and welfare. Animals should not be bred merely for monetary gains. This is why I am urging lawmakers to immediately implement and enforce laws banning all types of animal breeding, especially cats and dogs.
Animals deserve our utmost care and respect. It is our responsibility to keep th safe and protect them. We are not protecting them by allowing human to breed them for monetary gain. There is absolutely no onther reason to breed other than to put money in their pockets. These are people who do not care about the animal itself. If they did care, they would not add to an already existing problem with overpopulation resulting in the death of so many in innocent lives. These are not animal lovers/supporters/activists - they are opportunists looking to make as much money as possible off the uterus of an animal.
It is our responsibility to stand for those who cannot speak for themselves. Ensure our voices are heard and their welfare is protected. I urge you to sign this petition to prompt our government to put a stop to all breeding at this time. Anyone caught not abiding should be fined. Please step up and help prevent the overcrowding of our rescues which is resulting in euthanasia of many beautiful, innocent lives. PLEASE be the voice they do not have. They need our help. PLEASE SIGN AND SHARE.
