Halt Agricultural Land Acquisition Exceeding 500 Acres for Industrialisation

Halt Agricultural Land Acquisition Exceeding 500 Acres for Industrialisation

The Issue

Our serene countryside, once characterized by over 500 acres of lush agricultural lands, is unrecognizable today. The burden of industrialisation and its resultant pollution has made life unbearable for ordinary citizens. It is a personal battle for me and many others in our community as we witness our loved ones falling prey to devastating diseases, including cancer, due to industrial pollution.

Often, we hear of governments and corporations emphasising the economic benefits of industrialisation. However, we must not ignore the alarming environmental consequences. Our air, water, and soil are under increasing threat from harmful industrial pollutants. The World Health Organisation reports that one in every six deaths is linked to pollution, with a high prevalence of cancerous diseases (World Health Organisation, 2020).

We must strike a balance. Our plea is not against industrialisation but its unchecked expansion onto agricultural lands, resulting in unsustainable living conditions. Ideally, environmentally friendly practices like green manufacturing can be adopted. If not, at least limit the acquisition to levels where our life, health, and nature are no longer at risk.

We appeal to local government administrators, environmental bodies, and officials responsible for industries and mines. Treat our lives, health, and environment with the gravitas it deserves. Act now to halt the acquisition of more than 500 acres of agricultural land for industrialisation. This is our rightful demand - for ourselves and the future generations. Please sign our petition and join our fight for fair balance between industrialisation and environmental preservation.
