As a Muslim student at Lone Star College, one of the biggest community colleges in Houston, Texas that is part of the Honors and International Education Program they offer, I believe it is imperative to bring representation to colleges. Offering halal (permissible) food options at all campuses at their Cafeteria will include the Muslim community and students who go to Lone Star College. Halal food refers to food that is made according to Islamic Law, which is also the most humane way. With over 300k Muslims living in Texas, thousands of them being students at Lone Star, it is a struggle to find halal food that is local to us, and having a halal food vendor would make students like myself, less stressed over food. Bringing halal food vendors on campus will not discriminate against anyone, and will be as tasty as any other food vendor, the only difference would be that it can be consumed by Muslim students.
