La causa
Merlín debe ser la mascota no oficial del Mundial 2026. No es una creación de marketing ni un personaje diseñado por comité: es un pato de dos años que vende aguas en el Centro Histórico, que come tacos de carnitas los domingos y que se lanzó a festejar el triunfo del Tri con su playera verde y sus tenis puestos, igual que cualquier mexicano. Merlín representa lo que realmente somos: creativos, trabajadores, apasionados y capaces de convertir lo cotidiano en algo extraordinario. Ninguna mascota oficial podría capturar mejor el alma de este país que un patito que madruga a trabajar y aun así se da tiempo de apoyar a su selección. México ya lo eligió desde las calles — solo falta hacerlo oficial .

Merlín should be the unofficial mascot of the 2026 World Cup.
He's not a marketing creation or a character designed by committee: he's a two-year-old duck who sells drinks in the Historic Center, eats carnitas tacos on Sundays, and jumped out to celebrate with his green jersey and sneakers on — just like any Mexican would.
Merlín represents what we really are: creative, hardworking, passionate, and capable of turning the everyday into something extraordinary. No official mascot could capture the soul of this country better than a little duck who wakes up early to work and still makes time to support his team.
Mexico already chose him from the streets — we just need to make it official.
