Help stop more houses in Effingham, Surrey

The Issue

Effingham, Surrey is a beautiful village.

With the recent acquisition of The Howard Partnerships land, Berkeley homes have made a promise to provide a new Secondary School alongside new houses.

Berkeley homes have now decided they need another 110 houses in addition to their previous 295 housing application bringing the total of new houses to be built to a huge total of 405 (!!) as well as a new school.

There will be no new additional amenities such as doctors, dentists or pharmacies. A rough estimate would suggest another 800 vehicles (2 per new household) with roads already struggling with the current traffic without a need for further cars on an already stretched main road through the village raising huge safety concerns with the locality of primary schools and nurseries in the immediate vicinity already.

Please help us bring this proposed addition of an extra 110 houses (totalling 405 houses) alongside their previous planning request to a stop

Effingham is beautiful with large open spaces. More importantly there is a very important community feel to Effingham and it’s neighbouring villages; Bookham, Fetcham and Horsley which will be lost with such a large increase in housing and residents. Everything about this beautiful village will be lost within a matter of years if this proposal is allowed to go ahead!

Planning application objection will be found on Guildford Borough Council in March 2021. Please do sign this petition AND object on their website when it becomes live as we need objections direct to the council as well.

Help save our village! Thank you
