A message from Senator Parkinson:

"Power bills are hurting families across Guam, and one of the biggest reasons is simple: fuel costs have exploded.

Earlier this year, Guam Power Authority was paying about $88 per barrel for fuel. That cost climbed to more than $222 per barrel, and ultimately, those higher fuel costs show up on our monthly power bills.

At the same time, the Government of Guam received approximately $19.9 million more in Section 30 revenues than the budget anticipated.

That is why I introduced Bill 356-38, which would use a portion of those unexpected revenues to provide a $100 power credit for three months to eligible GPA customers. The credits would cover September, October, and November and would be applied retroactively, providing up to $300 in direct relief to families and ratepayers across Guam.

I recorded this video to explain exactly what happened, where the money came from, what other proposals are competing for the same funds, and why I believe helping families with their power bills should come first.

Bill 356 is now moving toward consideration by the Legislature, and this is when your voice matters most.

And please keep sharing this petition with your friends, family, coworkers, and neighbors. Every signature helps demonstrate that people across our island want their government to recognize what families are dealing with right now.

Watch the video, share the petition, and make your voice heard.

We have an opportunity to put these unexpected revenues directly back into the pockets of the people who paid them. I believe that is exactly what we should do."
