Bring Awareness Towards Lake St. Clair: Water Pollution Should not Define us
The Issue
Michigan is the definition of clean, sustainable, and freshwater. Our lakes are home to natural habitats, and over 5 million people get transported water from Lake St. Clair. This water then hydrates our families and loved ones. Such water is the need for Michigan communities all around. With the lake's water, we drink, bathe, do laundry, clean, and rely from. Unfortunately, Lake St. Clair is polluted with toxic chemicals and E. Coli. E.Coli is found through human and animal digestive tracts. Which in the future, may be found in the water we send kids to school with. The pollution started out from Lake Erie then, followed Lake St. Clair and now is reaching the Detroit River. The Flint Water Crisis has devastated us and if we now expand this problem we won't be considered 'fresh' anymore. Yes, politics matter, society matters, education matters, culture matters, but so does our health. What we consume is what we are made of. Would you like to be considered toxic? NO, obviously NOT. We are hardworking, kind, and open minded citizens of Michigan. We deserve BETTER. This petition is by a group of students studying American History at the International Academy Of Macomb. Which consists of four motivated students: Nabeeha Ali, Rachel Gareau, Shubaita Islam, Simone Greene. We are here to initiate awareness on our own Lake St. Clair. WE WILL NOT let our generation and coming generations from drinking such polluted water. We want to sustain our lakes and just because Lake St. Clair is polluted, doesn't mean the Detroit River won't be polluted. We are on a time limit and our actions matter. You're one click away from making an IMPACT. Please sign this petition and thank you so much for your support!
