Within days of WestCONnex being announced as the NSW government's highest priority project, transport experts such as Dr Garry Glazebrook stood up to expose the scam that they had witnessed.
He and others on the Expert Advisory Panel had been sidelined by Nick Greiner and Paul Broad at Infrastructure NSW. In this piece from October 2012, Dr Glazebrook argued that WestCONnex makes no sense and that "nearly everyone agrees that we should be focusing on public transport rather than roads". The claim that the NSW government is biased against rail was later borne out when secret documents were uncovered in 2017 that showed a cabinet directive not to consider rail projects.
