​For over 25 years, Takehiko Inoue’s Vagabond has stood as one of the most celebrated, critically acclaimed historical manga in the medium's history, with over 82 million copies sold worldwide. Through the life of Miyamoto Musashi, Vagabond redefined visual storytelling with its breathtaking brushwork, philosophical depth, and unflinching exploration of human purpose.

​Despite its immense global influence, Vagabond remains one of the few undisputed masterworks that has never received an anime adaptation.

​We, the global manga and anime community, understand why an adaptation hasn't happened yet. Inoue-sensei’s intricate ink-and-brush art style cannot be rushed through an ordinary TV production schedule without compromising the soul of the work. We do not want an uninspired, low-budget broadcast series.​

We are petitioning Kodansha, I.T.Planning, and production studios to consider:

​1. A prestige, film-scale project: Adapting Vagabond through a theatrical film series or a high-budget boutique OVA project (similar in philosophy to The First Slam Dunk or Vinland Saga).

2. ​Complete creative oversight by Takehiko Inoue: Ensuring the rhythm, directing, visual weight, and traditional aesthetic match Inoue-sensei’s uncompromising vision.

3. ​Prioritizing hand-crafted artistry over quick CGI: Guaranteeing the animation honors the ink textures and physical weight of the original panels.
