If we reach 600 it can be debated by the council....keep sharing!

Hello Folks. ..this is a great effort...thank you so so much!

I've just been told by Councillor Tia Roos that if we get to 600 the council have to debate this.  The council are the owners and they can insist that we are let back in.

One councillor predicted this could happen with Greenhill Community Trust CIC in 2017!

'Cllr Blackwood said there’s also a risk that the community won’t get to use the chalets
“There’s a risk, and I hope it’s one the charitable trust will try hard to avoid, that we won’t see much turnover of chalet use. Those lucky enough to have one might be tempted to ringfence their position and make it difficult for other members of the community to get use of them.”'

See https://www.dorsetecho.co.uk/news/15141109.update-seafront-chalets-handed-over-to-community-but-it-comes-with-a-warning/

The bailiff says they will remove our stuff on Weds 24th April (this Weds!).

But we have found an email from 2016 in which the council promised us a lease after a 6 month "trial period" under a licence. Following that,  because they didn't want to spend the money on legal costs, they just kept giving us 6 month licences. That has caused this whole situation.

If you really want to help us fast please email the council CEO, Matt Prosser, and politely ask him to take action because he has that power and GCT CIC have violated the trust the council put in them to manage the facility for the "wider community".

Matt's email is: matt.prosser@dorsetcouncil.gov.uk

Please copy us in if you email him so we know how many do it and what is said. Cc us using info@weymouthbayseaswimmers.org.uk

Let's keep the pressure on and get back in there!

All the best

Jason
