Hi Folks

Thank you do much for your support. It is really comforting to know we have you all behind us as we try to sort this out in a sensible way.

Those of us who have been dealing with this have really not understood why exactly we are being treated like this.

We just found this article from the Dorset Echo in 2017. This is what one councillor warned as the management committee voted to give Greenhill Community Trust CIC a lease.

'Cllr Blackwood said there’s also a risk that the community won’t get to use the chalets
“There’s a risk, and I hope it’s one the charitable trust will try hard to avoid, that we won’t see much turnover of chalet use. Those lucky enough to have one might be tempted to ringfence their position and make it difficult for other members of the community to get use of them.”'

See https://www.dorsetecho.co.uk/news/15141109.update-seafront-chalets-handed-over-to-community-but-it-comes-with-a-warning/

We really hope his words were not prophetic but it feels like they have might been.

All we asked for was parity with other occupants of the building. How hard is that to provide?

Please keep sharing this. ..let's get to 500, the more signatures the more pressure there will be.

Weymouth Town Council are already very kindly helping us by trying to fix a meeting and provide mediation. Unfortunately GCT's directors have again (fourth time of asking) refused to meet both us and the council, who are their landlord!

We have had no reply to our letter of 11 April, nor our email of 12 April. We've only received an email from the bailiff they have hired telling us to remove our property. We won't bend because we believe we are being treated appallingly.

If the council can't get a meeting fixed up the next step could be to ask the council to forfeit the lease on the basis that GCT have breached their covenant to act in the interests of the community.

This is thoroughly unpleasant but if anyone knows long distance swimmers, which those of us on the board of WBSS CIC all are, it is that we aren't fazed by a challenge.

Thanks again for your hugely valued support.

Jason
