Green Sands Trust Reintroduce Annual Passes in Aspley Woods

The Issue

As regular users and advocate for horse riders in the beautiful Aspley Woods, we find the Woods to be a bastion of safety for horse riders, on visits you will regularly see young children on small ponies enjoying the time outside. It offers a environment for our horses to exercise, away from the dangers of busy roads. The multiple bridleways through these woods, are linked by permissive tracks that provide vital safe routes for equestrians, young and old alike.

However, changes to the pricing structure for accessing these tracks have been prohibitive to many within our community. The cost of passes has drastically increased, from £45 for six months to £15 per day for a single rider, or £30 per day for a family. This sharp increase presents a significant financial difference on those of us who cherish and rely on our frequent visits to this incredible green space to ensure the wellbeing of our horses. In effect, it threatens to make this place, inaccessible to many in the local equine community.

Therefore, we respectfully request that the Green Sands Trust reconsiders this sharp hike in prices and reintroduces the six-monthly and annual passes for horse riders. A more sustainable pricing scheme will not only ensure that Aspley Woods remains accessible for all but also continues to support this vital outdoor exercise opportunity for horses and their riders.

Please, support us in this pursuit by signing our petition. Together, let us protect the affordability and accessibility of Aspley Woods for current and future generations of horse riders.
