Stop Green Diamond From Destroying Redwood Forests

Stop Green Diamond From Destroying Redwood Forests
The Issue
From the redwoodforestdefense on Instagram:
Hi new supporters and kindred spirits! We're a group of friends living in a canopy of redwood trees on Yurok land (the north coast of so-called California). After four peaceful months of treesitting, Green Diamond moved in two weeks ago with bulldozers and chainsaws and began logging right next to us. We responded by putting up more treesits and holding strong ✊
Our presence in this forest prevents our friends from being cut down by Greed Diamond, a billionaire-owned logging company currently operating on a greenwashed "environmentally-responsible" Timber Harvest Plan (THP) using clear-cutting. Clear-cutting is a method of logging that enables them to uniformly desecrate mass acres of forest at a time, displacing the symbiotic ecosystems that are balanced with and for the presence of each pricklecone pine, each banana slug, each waterway, each hillside, each ruffle lichen. This destruction intentionally and irreversibly reduces the rainforest's complex biome to a profitable, "sustainable" tree farm.
Logging of the Redwood forest has been occuring for the past 200 years. This history of logging is the same history of westward expansion responsible for the genocide and displacement of the indigenous people of the Americas, the same industrialization that created the resource extractions of the gold rush and the construction of the railroads. The continued sense of entitlement Green Diamond, the US Forest Service, and other logging interests have to the possession, control, and exploitation of the remaining 5% of the Redwood Forest can no longer be validated by the empty powers established by settler coloniality and coercive rhetoric of resource-hoarding law.
By living with these trees, we also liberate and decolonize ourselves of these oppressive ideologies.
We act against corporate greed and for the forests, planet, and future generations. We are in solidarity with land defenders and water protectors fighting for the sacred and for complete Indigenous sovereignty worldwide.
