The judicial review for suspended Greater Victoria School Board trustees, Diane McNally and Rob Paynter, took place May 4-6th. We are now awaiting the judge's decision in the case, and it is likely that the Ministry of Education will continue to hold its decision on the Lansdowne Middle School south campus land disposal until the judge's ruling is out.
If you have not already done so, please write to the Minister of Education, Jennifer Whiteside, and your MLAs and communicate your opposition to the sale directly to them. See contact information below.
One of the issue our petition raises is that of future enrolment and need for green space in densifying neighbourhoods. Please see this recent Times Colonist article on the new neighbourhood plans (Fernwood, North Park, and Quadra-Hillside), which will directly impact enrolment at Lansdowne Middle School and put increased pressure on the lacking green space in the area.
