For the past 3 years which I have attended UMass Dartmouth, I, and many other students, relied on the bathrooms on the bottom floor of the CVPA being a guaranteed safe place for trans and LGBTQ students. Since my arriving at this school, these two bathrooms adorned painted nonbinary flags on their respective doors. Recently, these flags have been painted over, erasing any presence of gender-neutral bathrooms in not only the CVPA, but on this campus. This is unacceptable. Trans students attend this school- we deserve an official place with proper signage that will not be painted over by maintenance.

Throughout the UMass Dartmouth campus, other than in the dorm buildings, there are no gender neutral bathrooms. To ask for a single designated space in 1 of the 7 colleges on this campus is not an excessive demand, nor an exorbitant expense.

We, the students and alum of UMass Dartmouth, demand that official signage be given to the bathrooms on the bottom floor of the CVPA bathrooms indefinitely.
