For nearly two years, I've watched Trapology Dispensary tirelessly prepare to open its doors at 691 Route 130 here in Hamilton Township, New Jersey. We've secured zoning approvals and followed every process laid out by the municipality, deeply investing in our community, only to find our path blocked without a hearing before the Municipal Council. This isn't just about Trapology; it's about fairness, transparency, and the future we want for our local economy.

Hamilton Township does not currently benefit from a locally based social-equity cannabis business. Trapology Dispensary could be the first, offering new opportunities and significant contributions to our community through job creation and local investment. Yet, despite having met the initial zoning requirements backed by documentation from the township, we stand at a stalemate, unable to present our case or move forward.

Cannabis businesses are becoming a vital part of the economic landscape, contributing to job growth and generating tax revenue that can fund important local initiatives such as education, infrastructure, and community health programs. According to the New Jersey Department of Treasury, cannabis sales in the state have already brought millions in tax revenue, and local businesses here in Hamilton should have the opportunity to contribute to and benefit from this economic activity.

This delay in proceedings raises a crucial question for Hamilton residents and business owners: If a business follows all the necessary steps, should it not at least receive the opportunity for a fair hearing? Our investment in the Hamilton property is an investment in this community. We adhered to every procedure; it's only fair that the Municipal Council considers our proposal in the timely manner initially promised.

By granting Trapology a hearing, the council can uphold principles of equal opportunity and fairness, set a precedent for the treatment of future local businesses, and strengthen trust between Hamilton stakeholders and its leadership.
