The Issue

Myself and my family as well as my 19 year old son who is being held at the Pierce County Corrections Jail in Tacoma, WA have been deeply affected mentally and emotionally being deprived by the decision in which the jail facility will not allow "IN-PERSON" visiting for inmates and their families at neither The Main or New Jail locations. This decision seems unfair and unjust to all parties involved. Here in Washington State, our Government (such as Jay Inslee and A.G. Fergueson) and several other members of legislation, counsilseat holders have expressed their in favor and support for resources supportive services for incarcerated indidividuals throughout their entire process. Also stating the need for much Government to Community transparency and trust. Now more than ever we unity and trust between and from "both sides of the street". The COVID-19 Limitations, Mandates, and State of Emergency statuses have all been lifted. And was the stated reason for the in-person visiting being prohitbited in a public affirmation letter from 2020. Most surrounding sister-cities County Jail's allow both types of visiting which includes the option for in-person visiting. Another fact to include would be some of the largest and most populated cities and their Jail's in our states region do also allow in-person visits. Our Government has alledged in legislation and several Counsel Members have stated that there isn't enough resources made available to help, guidiuance, or supportive services for Inmates and Individuals having been jailed. But our government has stated it being in favor for more resources being made available for this part of our population and is also in-support of programs and the families within this group throughout incarceration and resources for individuals releasing from custody is an area of much needed attention and support. This is small yet simple approach to begin Community to Government TRUST.A start by helping create that family foundation that's most need when re-entry is near. Also lessening an individuals odds in re-offending by allowing family in support and setting structural barriers. Which factually in long term "cause & effect"  would lessen our crime rate and save on taxpayer costs in the amount that is spent to provide due process and housing..So many of our community issues will cure by simply granting something that most who live here previously had and re-instate "in-person visiting" for inmates and family at both facilities located at Pierce County Jail/Corrections Center. My child is hardly on adult & legal age. He has a family, he has a Mother- ME that has been sick, supportive and always SHOWS UP & PRESENT..My parentel rights legally have either expired or have been abruptly taken from me due to my son being housed @ this facility. This person isn't just an inmate and booking #. He has been my best friend and his honesty and intelligence and navigating life has been what has kept me here and grounded. He's also the the young man that takes his little sister to and from school everyday and helps with her Math homework. Due to the sudden onset of my health issues. He is such a solid contributor to my family and household that it is going to be very difficult for us in many ways in his absence. Especially For in doing so, you are letting us be the support system and foundational needs for those incarcerated individuals that are needed. Which also contributes to their rehabilitation and reentry to society as well as lessen the likelihood in re-offending. As I write here now, and request your approval on this matter I ask you to consider and please let me be the parent and support that my son needs being that he is located at this facility.
