Grant Early Release for Terminally Ill Prisoner, Angel Alvarado

The Issue

My nephew, Angel Alvarado, is currently serving time in prison. However, he is not just battling the confines of his cell but also a much more formidable adversary - terminal cancer. His struggle is one that no person should have to bear alone and yet he does so every day behind bars.

Angel's condition has been confirmed by medical professionals within the prison system who have deemed his illness as terminal. The American Cancer Society states that patients with terminal illnesses require specialized care and support which are often unavailable or inadequate within correctional facilities (American Cancer Society).

The early release of terminally ill prisoners is not unprecedented. In fact, many states in the U.S., including California and New York, have provisions for compassionate release programs aimed at terminally ill prisoners (The Marshall Project). This petition seeks to apply such a provision to Angel's case.

We believe that granting Angel an early release would allow him to spend his remaining days surrounded by loved ones and receiving appropriate medical care. It would be an act of humanity towards someone who poses no threat to society due to his debilitating condition.

Please join us in our plea for compassion and sign this petition urging authorities to grant an early release for Angel Alvarado. Your signature could help bring some comfort during this incredibly difficult time in our family's life.
