The issue

Candace Owens, an American commentator and political activist, is known for her articulate style and engaging podcasts. Her educated viewpoints provide a balanced perspective that fosters informed discourse. In the United States, she has appeared on several popular platforms, accumulating millions of views, despite being a controversial figure.

In 2019, Mrs Owens was invited by the British Parliament to engage in a dialogue. Yet, the Australian government has not allowed her a similar opportunity to share her thoughts and experiences in our country. With a population of approximately 25 million, Australia stands to benefit from such beneficial discussions.

While it is respected that regulations exist to protect against discrimination and hate speech, Candace does not promote such behaviour, instead preaching unity, respectful discourse and freedom of speech. It is a basic human right and necessity to ensure that voices which stimulate intellectual growth, and offer different worldy perspectives, are not silenced. Australia, as a democratic nation, values free speech, and allowing Mrs Owens to visit would only enhance this principle.

For all these reasons, we request that the Australian government reconsider their decision in rejecting Candace Owens' visa application and allow her to freely tour our democratic country, as initially planned. Please sign this petition to show your support.
