Hi all, I wanted to let you know that we now have 31 signatures on this petition. Thank you so much for your support!

Would you help me get more signatures by sharing this petition with ten other people on social media? If more of us sign, we can’t be ignored!

I am sure most of you have seen the message left in the common room. Please do not fear; we are still continuing with our plan. The issue that the faculty are not realising is that we are not undermining them or being immature; we are simply trying to gather data and work out whether enough people even want study leave right now. That is why we need to keep getting support. Please do not be scared. If people fear they will get in trouble, remember you can sign anonymously. My name is on the petition as the creator because I, Fatimah Jabbar, am not scared. Countless times during our 6th form journey, we have come to teachers with new ideas that we know will be beneficial to us, and we are shut down because we are 'younger with less experience'. Now, when we make the decision to see what other people think, we are classified as immature. If the faculty decide to close this down and punish those who created this plan, then I will be the sole one punished. Me. This is because I will continue to stand for what I believe no matter what. Therefore, as I said before, have no fear of sharing this petition with everyone you know, whether they go to our school or not. All you need to do to support us even after signing this petition is share the link.

Time really is running out, but I will try my hardest to make sure there is change at Jo Richardson Community School.

If people need convincing, send them this message: A study leave does not mean we will never be in school unless we have exams; it means we have the option to study at home or at school, but the option to stay at home is okay because authorised absences are used, which doesn't affect your attendance. I have encountered some of you who didn't want to sign the petition, which is okay, but also some who did so in a rude manner and all I would like to say is that while you might be okay with your current schedule, there may be others in your classes who are currently not benefiting from the usual schedule right now as exam season approaches. If you prefer to work with teachers, they are still there, but if you want to work alone, you should have the ability to do so. The idea of study leave is to implement freedom and choice for everyone. You not wanting to sign the petition means you are not supporting the idea of bringing this freedom and choice to everyone in the sixth grade so that everyone can be happy, not just yourself. Again, if you really do not want to sign, then don't, but just remember what you are doing. You do not need to be suffering to help those who are.

Thanks again for supporting this cause.

Sign. Support. Succeed.

Fatimah Jabbar.
