Stop new oversized port from destroying irreplaceable reefs

Stop new oversized port from destroying irreplaceable reefs
The Issue
The stunning small island of Grand Cayman is being turned into an environmental disaster. To accommodate mammoth cruise ships, the government has proposed to destroy mass irreplaceable pristine reefs and beautiful marine wildlife. We are fighting for an alternative solution. There is already a referendum that has been signed by more than 5300 Caymanian residents who are trying to fight this irresponsible act and be heard by their government leaders. Only residents can sign this referendum and ultimately vote for or against the port, however, this is not just a registered voters issue. This is a planet issue. I am hoping there are enough believers of wildlife justice who can lend a helping hand with something as simple as a signature. There are many families and people who love the island for the paradise it is, but sadly, it may not be for too much longer. This petition can enhance residents voices, make them a bit louder, and hopefully convince government officials there are many more concerned than the Caymanians who live there.
I am aware and know of many families, including my own, that come to this island of paradise yearly for holidays. My family has watched over 10 yrs the difference the amount of added tourism has deteriorated the little island and its reefs. It's hard to fathom accommodating these mammoth sized cruise ships that can hold up to 9000 people. Where will all those people go for a day? There is already an increase in traffic, litter, and garbage in the landfill. The island is so special, instead of making it a place where literally thousands can go for a single day, they should concentrate on maintaining the paradise it is while there is still time.
Please help with a signature, that is all I ask. I am hoping 3,000 or more can make a difference. Please take 5 seconds out of your day to sign and possibly be part of the reason these reefs continue to exist and provide homes for the countless species of fish, turtles, octopus, sea fans, coral, sharks, and many more, the way they were meant to. My family has snorkeled these reefs, and words cannot express the stunning beauty and awe they create. These reefs and grottos are truly masterpieces of nature. Thank you!
