Dear supporters,
Today Grab just announced the Special Relief Fund (SRF) scheme which is co-funded by the Singapore government. The quick takeaway from this scheme is that Grab seems to be taking this opportunity to reduce their overall existing incentives (payable out of the company's pocket) to drivers while continuing to insist drivers to deliver high trip acceptance rate (AR) and low trip cancellation rate (CR).
If other rider-sharing app companies like TADA can continue to give drivers reasonable trip fares without charging 20% commission, there is no basis why Grab cannot do the same. TADA is also not forcing drivers to maintain high AR & low CR. It is true that riders may face more trip cancellations under TADA but isn't that part and parcel of free market economics? Demand and supply have to meet somewhere at a mutually beneficial price-point?
The presence of "incentives/rebates" and insistence of AR/CR is skewing the whole market dynamics for the benefit of ride-sharing app companies such as Grab. Their main priority is no longer providing a fair ride-sharing service but to monopolize the market & collect all possible consumers data (travelling patterns, spending habits, etc.) by branding their services to be cheap and affordable at the expense of their contractors/drivers/partners.
Since PHV drivers and ride-share app companies such as Grab are no longer clearly aligned, it is PHV drivers' right band together under this petition to make their voices heard. Forget about ''incentives & rebates". Zero commission is one of the best way to balance out this skewed ride-sharing market dynamics for a fairer market to all under such difficult economic conditions.
Please continue to share this petition with others.
Thank you
