The claim of chottanikkara temple curing mental health issues could be bogus and quackery.

Unless the scientific community does research in the temple and on the patients and conclude that visiting this temple cures mental health issues without medicines it could be a huge risk to undertake treatment through mere bhajans and consuming holy water. It could be nothing but blind faith and lame excuses for not consulting a psychiatrist.Going to a temple instead of to a psychiatrist's OPD is deemed culturally  more acceptable. And it's huge business also by hoodwinking the patients.

Erawadi dargah is a similar example which also claims to cure mental health problems. The illness only worsens.

In that case let all patients irrespective of their type of illness go and seek treatment at chottanikkara. No more need for hospitals to take emergency or OPD cases. After all god is more powerful.
