🦌🦢 URGENT: HELP PROTECT MICHIGAN'S WILDLIFE!

🦌🦢 URGENT: HELP PROTECT MICHIGAN'S WILDLIFE!
Three important updates concerning wildlife protection, public safety, and Michigan's upcoming election.
🦌 1. BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP — DEER MANAGEMENT MEETING
Bloomfield Township is considering deer management options, including a possible partnership with the USDA that could involve professional sharpshooters to reduce deer populations.
Residents deserve transparency, public input, and a thorough review of humane, science-based, nonlethal alternatives before any wildlife is killed.
IMPORTANT PUBLIC MEETING
Monday, October 12, 2026 — 6:30 PM
Bloomfield Township Hall Auditorium
4200 Telegraph Road, Bloomfield Hills, MI
Residents concerned about deer management, neighborhood safety, and nonlethal alternatives are encouraged to attend and make their voices heard.
Decisions made in one community can influence wildlife management decisions in other Michigan communities. and voice your concerns:
If you cannot make the meeting, please contact the Bloomfield Officials

🦢 2. ORE LAKE MUTE SWANS — PLEASE KEEP SPEAKING UP!
GREEN OAK AND HAMBURG TOWNSHIPS — RESCIND THE RESOLUTIONS!
Both township boards approved resolutions supporting the removal of mute swans and destruction of their nests and eggs on Ore Lake.
These resolutions followed complaints from one individual who claimed he was attacked twice by swans while riding his Jet Ski.
No supporting photographs, medical records, or incident reports documenting those alleged attacks have been publicly presented to my knowledge.
Many Ore Lake residents have reported having no problems with the swans. When I personally visited the lake, I observed six swans peacefully remaining near shore while recreational boating continued.
Education, coexistence, and nonlethal solutions should be considered before killing wildlife.
Please continue respectfully contacting both township boards and asking them to:
Rescind their resolutions supporting lethal control of mute swans on Ore Lake.
Provide documented evidence supporting the reported conflicts.
Allow meaningful public input from lake residents and wildlife advocates.
Consider education and humane, nonlethal alternatives before authorizing wildlife destruction.

These resolutions can be reconsidered. The swans cannot speak for themselves, but we can continue asking questions and advocating for their protection.
🗳️ 3. MICHIGAN ELECTION — NOVEMBER 3, 2026
I also want to share some encouraging news regarding two candidates running to represent the Commerce Township area.
Stacey McDuffie (D)
Candidate for Michigan State Representative — District 51
District 51 includes portions of Commerce, Highland, Milford, Springfield, and White Lake townships.
Sean Carlson (D)
Candidate for Michigan State Senate — District 13
District 13 includes Commerce Township, West Bloomfield, Walled Lake, Wixom, Milford, South Lyon, and surrounding communities.
Both candidates have expressed a willingness to meet with us to discuss our concerns regarding Michigan DNR wildlife management policies, including:
The gassing and killing of Canada geese.
The DNR's lethal mute swan management and removal programs.
The need for greater transparency, scientific evidence, and accountability in wildlife management decisions.
I appreciate their willingness to listen and look forward to discussing these important issues. Their willingness to meet does not necessarily mean they have committed to any particular position.
I encourage everyone to research candidates' positions on wildlife protection, environmental issues, and public accountability before voting.
❤️ TOGETHER, WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
Whether we are discussing deer in residential neighborhoods, Canada geese, or mute swans peacefully raising their young on our lakes, wildlife management decisions deserve careful consideration, transparency, and meaningful public participation.
Please continue speaking up, contacting officials, attending public meetings, and sharing this information.
Our wildlife cannot speak for itself. Our voices can help make a difference for current and future generations.
THANK YOU FOR CARING ABOUT MICHIGAN'S WILDLIFE!
