While many of you, especially those in the western portion of PA, may have already seen this article, I wanted to share it here for the benefit of everyone who has signed the petition so far. Marylynne Pitz and Sharon Eberson have given a good synopsis of the painful consequences of the Governor's freeze on PCA grants to Pittsburgh area nonprofit arts & culture organizations. They reference our petition, too! To view the article, please visit : https://www.post-gazette.com/ae/art-architecture/2020/06/02/Pennsylvania-arts-council-grants-Pittsburgh-groups-revenue-new-funds-COVID-19/stories/202005280108

I also want to make clear that I am aware of the recent racist actions of the Post-Gazette's editorial leadership and owners, as well as the longer standing history of their problematic decisions and treatment of staff. By sharing this piece I am in no way ignoring this or endorsing the behavior of those who run the PPG. I do, however, think that Marylynne Pitz & Sharon Eberson wrote a sound examination of the current predicament of our arts orgs. I encourage you to give it a look. But to also follow the Pittsburgh based journalists who are speaking up about the inexcusable culture they've experienced at the PPG.
