As many of you in the Philadelphia area may know, the situation of the city budget continues to evolve. However, the status of funding for the Philadelphia Cultural Fund and the Office of Arts, Culture, & Creative Economy remains unresolved. At present, these budget line items remain zeroed out.
Yesterday saw direct action by artists, arts administrators, and concerned citizens to advocate that Philadelphia City Council restore full funding for the PCF and OACCE. The event centered the voices of Black, Latinx, Asian, and Queer people in the arts sector. You may find more content on the subject by searching on social media the hashtags #FundBlackFutures and #KenneysCutsHurt.
