Wink News Reporter Lauren Sweeney does not provide an investigative report to the public, instead she provides an interview with Milaidys Cabrera the owner of Rancho Cabrera as a credible source. Both Cabrera and her neighbor Roman Hernandez, own two properties shown in ARM undercover videos and do not dispute that they’ve sold slaughtered animals without a USDA license.

Despite admitting the illegal sale of meats without licensing, countless violations, inhumane barbaric illegal slaughter, illegal horse meat sales and the continued traffic seen in and out of the properties placing bags and boxes into vehicles, these farms have not been shut down by local Government and claimed professionals - Sheriff Scott's Ag. Crime Unit/ Sgt. Randy Hodges.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office conducted its own 2 1/2 year investigation into the properties. According to Wink News "Case notes indicated that an undercover officer witnessed what appeared to be cruelty at one of the properties but undercover video equipment was not functioning correctly. The Agriculture unit was then not given access to another undercover detective to complete the investigation".
We the petitioners believe blame is being placed on Animal Recovery Mission for what appears to be a failed investigation, incompetence and neglect of duty by both Sheriff's Scott's office and the State Attorney's office. The farms continue without consequence, were never shut down, arrested for felony animal cruelty, cited for all violations and the animals still suffer while being neglected and brutalized.
Only Governor Rick Scott has the power to request this case be moved out of the county.
