This is just for Arlington County but it is clear that our petition is resonating. I am glad that it is. The only regret is that it took two tragedies of Charleston and Charlottesville to awaken people's senses to see the damage that these Confederate symbols cause to people and communities. But we knew it was wrong anyway. Our petition began on May 2, 2015 and most of the signatures on this petition were imprinted during the six-week period between the petitions start date and the Charleston incident. We should all be proud of the progress we are making and for taking part in this effort.
