According to the West Virginia Code: Chapter 48, Article 2, Part 301 b & c state (in summary) “A circuit court judge can issue a marriage license to an applicant under 18 given written consent from their parent or guardian, and under 16 given approval by the clerk of the county commission under the order of a judge.” As long as the parents of the underage sign a paper, there are zero age restrictions on either side.

This legislation supports pedophiles by allowing them to take advantage of young children who don’t even know how real love actually feels, what they are signing up for, the commitment they are making - how big of a deal marriage actually is in practice.

Pedophilia is nothing more than adults taking advantage of the naïve, gung-ho nature of those too young to know what they even want for their futures. Several states have laws just like this one, and they do nothing more than propagate this type of behavior. Unfortunately, marriages occur under the protection of these laws much more often than they should. 

Therefore, we need to call on WV Governor Jim Justice and the WV Legislature to work to strike this section of the code from the law books, disallowing all underage marriages in the state of WV.

Perhaps if we can petition one state to revoke these laws, others will follow suit!
